Tesco Collection Day – Breaking Records!

18th September 2017

On Saturday 16th September 2017 we had our first in-store collection day at the Tesco Superstore in Hove.

Tesco allow foodbanks to collect in their stores twice a year and also offer a 20% cash top up on the donations received – we are tremendously grateful for their support.

We had a wonderful team of volunteers of all ages from several of the churches involved in running and supporting the foodbank.  We also had volunteers from the Co-operative Bank, one of our corporate supporters.

We offered a shopping list of needed items to shoppers on the way in and they could drop it off to us on their way out of the store.

The response from the shoppers of Hove was overwhelming!  This is by far our largest single collection to date: a record breaker!

One generous shopper even purchased two whole trolleys of food for us!  All donations – from the trolleys to the tin of beans – are hugely appreciated and it all makes a difference.

Nick and his helpers unloaded the food into our store room today and the shelves are now looking much more healthy.

We want to say a huge THANK YOU to the shoppers of Hove, our team of volunteers and to Tesco for their help and support.
