Reverse Advent Calendars – How to help at Christmas

9th November 2017

We are so grateful when people and businesses want to help those in our community in food poverty.

Christmas is our busiest time of year and we also see an increase in people wanting to donate which is wonderful!  Thank you.

There are a couple of ways you can help:

  • We always welcome financial contributions.

This allows us to buy food stock as and when we need it and direct the resources to where they are most needed.   All contributions, large or small, make a difference.  Our webpage on Giving explains the various ways you can do this, including our online account.

  • Take part in a Reverse Advent Calendar

The idea being that you give back (rather than receive) each day in advent.  We had a number of questions about how this works so we recorded a quick video so Kate could explain it.

In essence you just:

  1. Buy a bag for life
  2. Grab some sharpies
  3. Draw a calendar on the bag
  4. Check the shopping list (below) and add something to the bag each day
  5. Deliver the bag to us by 20th December 2017.  Contact [email protected] for details.

Please note we are unable to take donations of crackers, toys, clothes, alcohol or specific Christmas foods such as Christmas puddings/mince pies.

Thank you.  It’s only through your support that we can help to make Christmas a little brighter for local people in crisis.
